of the innovative theaters in the San Fernando Valley, Alliance Rep is a
comfortable 49-seat house located a few blocks east of Hollywood Way. Their
neighborhood is a business district with a number of excellent restaurants.
Founded in 1986, the Alliance Company took up permanent residence in their current space in 1989. Since then, Alliance has realized a number of award-winning productions on their small stage. The group is dedicated to new works, and their main stage productions are usually world premieres or West Coast premieres. Their choices are usually cutting-edge, from Theatre of the Absurd to works dealing with pertinent sociopolitical subjects.
The entrance to the theater is in the rear of the building, with a large parking lot a short way down the alley. The adjustable seating is comfortable, with excellent sightlines. Wheelchair access is available through the front of the building on Magnolia. -- T.H. McCulloh
