FRASIER
Adventures In Paradise

FRASIER (September 1993 - present) -- season 2, episode 9 -- "Adventures in Paradise" part 2 of 2 Although elected to a closing credit billing (as is every other guest star), this guest appearance may have been James Morrison’ s most memorable. Riding the wave of a hit new series, this episode brought back never-before-seen-here, but much-remembered old favorite from Cheers, Frasier’s ex, Lilith. Morrison plays her new beau and later fiance, Brian Patchett.

The adventure begins when Frasier meets and attempts to romance a woman he notices in a "Hottest People in Seattle" magazine article. He succeeds and decides to steal her away for a romantic weekend in Bora Bora.

Who could have dreamed that Frasier’s ex, Lilith, would choose the exact same weekend -- indeed the cabana next door -- to steal away with her new love.

As Frasier’s girlfriend loses her towel behind wicker blinds, Frasier gasps, "Oh my God." Then he hears quite a different, yet also familiar voice inquire, "Frasier?" Frasier turns to see his recent ex-wife on an adjacent balcony -- to which he gasps, "Oh my God!" Introductions follow.

"Dr. Brian Patchett, I’d like you to meet Madeline Marshall," Lilith (Bebe Neuwirth) begins.

"Hello," replies Madeline (JoBeth Williams).

"and Dr. Frasier Krane," Lilith continues.

"You’re ex-husband?" Brian questions with a half-hearted laugh. "You’re making a joke."

"No God is," Lilith responds.

Brian recovers, "Pleasure to meet you."

"Likewise," adds Frasier (Kelsey Grammer).

Lilith goes on, "Brian is a seismologist at MIT."

"Oh, well that’s perfect. Brian being a seismologist, and you having so many faults," Then Frasier observes, "Lilith, you’re laughing."

"I laugh quite a bit these days, thanks to Brian."

Frasier begins a rivalry, "Madeline is just hilarious. She also designs her own line of sportswear."

To which Lilith retorts, "Oh, I’m sorry. I don’t think I’ve ever worn sportswear."

"So how long are you going to stay?" Madeline rallies.

"Until Tuesday."

"We’re here ‘til Wednesday," Frasier counters.

Noting the mounting tension Brian interjects, "Well this certainly has the potential to be very awkward. Why don’t we diffuse the situation by getting together for cocktails later?"

The foursome agree to this course, but Frasier is unable to keep his mind off Lilith. His obsessing finally destroys his last chance with his new love, but, on the bright side, he and Lilith later form a meaningful reconciliation.
